Gawain is eager to learn. He can be described as a child trying to act as an adult, this is the result of him living in a luxurious bubble most of his life. He used to care a lot about what others thought of him. He has tried to change this habit, however, today he still seeks to be recognized by people. Wanting to prove he can be someone useful and reliable.  He has a strong sense of duty and will be loyal to those who earn his trust.   His social skills are rusty, but he is very optimistic and confident when it comes to meeting people.

He is embarrassed of the life he had as kid (had it all handed to him in a gold plate) and will avoid talking too much about himself or letting people know he came from a wealthy family. He is happy with a simpler lifestyle, no luxuries and doing things, his family would disapprove of like sleeping on the open or using his bare hands to eat.  He’s happy with people thinking he’s probably the son of a merchant or a soldier.

He had a hard training under the wing of an experienced knight and knows how to fight back and defend himself. He acts out of impulsive most of the times not caring if he gets injured. He has terrible leader skills and prefers to have someone to follow as a mentor or leader when it comes to battles; he is still young thus lacks experience in the battle field. As long as it’s for a good cause he will follow orders with no objection. This can sometimes cause him trouble due to him not asking questions and doing what needs to be done. He can be easily tricked.

History:

Gawain is the second son of a very wealthy family of mining entrepreneurs working under leases from nobles. His family owns several lands and mines specializing in trading and supplying with metal or other minerals to different types of customers. His parents, who were always busy, focused always in business and having a high social status as priority, they didn’t spend much time with their youngest son. They did make sure he had everything he needed and several maids to look after him. He always had a good relationship with his older brother but due to the age difference they didn’t get to spend much time together, the oldest  was bright and was soon being prepared to join his father’s  company, leaving not much space for Gawain to participate.

When he was still a small kid, his parents would often throw business parties and have several nobles as guests at their home. Fancy events, at his father’s eyes they were all potential customers or business partners. They would often show up with their spouses or kids ... and Gawain was expected to entertain or befriend them.  “Why not be friends with our competitors/ally’s son?” his father would tell him in private.  Wanting to please his parents he would end up in company of spoiled rude kids who would often mock him or make fun of him, as soon as they noticed how weak his personality was.  He eventually got used to it; he really wanted to feel he was usefull.

One day his father announced he would have a new playmate, the child of an important family.. Of course this would mean a new business partner for his father.  But for his surprise it was a girl called Daeris, He was expecting another spoiled child but Daeris proved to be a kind person.  Sadly their first playdate ended up in both getting into a fight. There was something about her that bugged him and made him want to push her into a puddle or play tricks on her and the fact that she fought back and she came up with excuses to avoid him getting in trouble caught his attention,  he considered her a friend. They had some strange rivalry but they were friends.  Daeris and Gawain would meet several times per week for the next years.

 But bad habits don’t go away easily, Gawain was still young and still cared a lot about what others thought of him, still wanting to be the perfect son his father wanted him to be, he occasionally denied being friend with the girl in public afraid of being target of mockery and embarrassed his family.  He went as far as to deny even knowing Daeris with her in front of him. This caused her to leave.  He had planned to apologize to her the next day. But she didn’t visit. Not the next day.. or the day after.  Thinking she was probably still upset and was scared of asking his father he just waited.. until days turned into weeks, weeks into months.  He was unhappy until he couldn’t take it anymore and finally decided to asked his father where was she.  “ she passed away.” – he said.  And before Gawain could reply his father continued “ You two were supposed to get engaged to her when you got older, her family had a good position, but it seems there was some sort of accident and now her family is not that important anymore. How Tragic, but oh well! There are many other better candidates out there” - Gawain just listened in silence.  All this time his father was just trying to find a good use for him, the benefits his father would receive if his son got together with the heir of a wealthy family.   He didn’t want to believe his only friend was just part of a deal. Daeris was important to him, but sadly Gawain always cared more about what others thought of him, that he never told her. He finally realized it he was just a pawn for his family.

For the next years Gawain played his part as a good son until he was old enough to leave his home. He had grown upset of his family life style, and how they gave social status and luxury so much priority. He thought of himself as someone useless.  As soon as he was on his own he wandered without any purpose, until he met a Knight called Galahad. Being free from home he didn’t had to hold back his tongue anymore when he was in presence of knights, so he took some of his frustrations out on him. Galahad then proceed to give him a lesson about pride, self-worth and that maybe... if he had been stronger back then things he would have been have to change things, he was not able to stand up for his only friend who needed him back then because he was too much of a wimp to do anything (Then he gave Gawain a beating, probably the first one in his life). Gawain decided to do as he said, and become a better person. He became his pupil long enough to learn how to be a Warrior. (Galahad had his own things to do so he sent him away)  Gawain wants to be stronger to be able to stand up against anyone or even be able to protect those who need help. With his new motivation he is eager to learn as much as he can, and he will do whatever it takes to become stronger.  But he is still young and has never experienced things like war or actually having to fight for his life. He is interested in being a soldier; he thinks he will learn a lot about teamwork and how to be quick in battle. He plans to gain as much experience as he can so he can meet up with Galahad and probably be a knight as him in the future.

  Additional info: 
- He has no problem weapons such as swords, but Guisarmes are his favorite. (he owns one that i forgot to draw) Hes not a fan of bows and arrows.

- He prefers close combat | Using his fists. | Running after things.

- The gray parts of his hair will get darker as he grows older. (They will be all black when hes a grown adult)

- He is still in contact with his older brother via letters, but they haven’t seen each other in years.

- He does not know how to ride a horse, he will say he does not like it. (He will if he has to, but they will probably need to tie him up else he will fall)

♦ Social class differences: Looking down on others based on their titles.
♦ He has no affinity with animals. He does not like them much. (dogs might bite him if he tries to pet them)
♦ Boats (gets seasick) He can get rid of the feeling eating lemons
♦ Engagements or any sort of comitment (his family tried to forcearrange-marriage him when he was younger)
